Busy busy busy, is what these last few days have been. Beware the long post!. As you know Saturday i baked all day, was up at 7am Sunday as it was Lilly's 4th birthday and Izzy couldn't hold her excitement any longer, thats right, Izzy!!! We opened pressies to lots of "awww, how coot", and "thanks", bless her, phone calls of congratulations from friends and family and then i finally headed back to the kitchen to make "The Birthday Cake". What a disaster!!! Honestly Nigella you truly let me down this time. See Exhibit A. This is a birthday cake in the process of slowly collapsing before my very eyes. yes I let the cake cool, yes the butter cream filling was not a splodgy mess, BUT yes the chocolate icing was hot as per Nigellas instructions, boohoo my birthday cake was slipping away before my very eyes. Lilly came in to ask "whats happened to my birthday cake mum?" oops....... Exhibit B. The end result after some patching up and re arranging. It tasted gorgeous and it all went so it cannot have tasted as bad as it looked.
Sunday nights Pencil Lines upload and for the second week running i didn't manage my layout, I am gutted, I love this sketch and will still be doing it as I have my papers and photos all ready to go, unfortunately today there have been more important matters to deal with ( thanks life coach Annie)

Bank Holiday Monday saw us up early again as we drove down to Standon a small village in Hertfordshire for the May Day Fair. We had a fantastic day and all of MIL cakes sold and i came home with only a hand full. Despite the English weather we all had a great day. The girls had a ball as Lilly tried her hand at selling cakes after a few prods!
I cannot believe it is Wednesday already, i have been trying to write this post for what seems an age. I am battling with a pile of deadlines and paperwork, as well as packing the kits for Scrapping Angels, which I may add have been such a success with many re subbing and lots of new subbers. And if you havnt popped over to the Scrapping Angels blog I suggest you do as Annie is RAKing the most stunning kit for all new and renewing subs!! She draws on Friday.
Had a phone call yesterday lunchtime from Izzy's school to pick her up as she was feeling poorly. My poor Izzy is having a tough time of it at the moment, encountering unpleasant behaviour from a boy in her class and a generally unrest with school. It is so heartbreaking to watch a 6 year old feel as if she has the worlds problems on her shoulders. Mummy TLC was the order of the afternoon, hence the backlog of work I was hoping to get done. She has gone into school this morning with a bit more of a skip in her step and I am hoping she makes it through the day.Time for me to get back to some deadlines and my mug of coffee. How was your bank holiday weekend?
Hugs
Anna x
Sorry to hear Izzy's having a rough time of it, my 4 yr old is going through the same thing & its heartbreaking, lots of love to you both.xx BTW I still think the cake looked delish even though it collapsed!!! LisaPink.xx
Well, I think your cake tasted wonderfull no matter how it looked like.
*hugs* for your girlie. glad the birthday went well even with sliding cake - you did way better than me who would have bought one :)
don't you look the total domestic goddess???
so glad someone takes my great advice (LOL!!!!!!!!!!!)
Lots of Love!
See you Friday
xo
Oh, don't you hate it when the home version doesn't look like the cookbook version? I once tried to make a confection out of a Bon Appetit magazine--total disaster after I killed myself trying. At least yours looks as if it tasted yummy, whereas mine was awful all around. Better luck next time!
I love the cake- I think is shows personality! Sounds like life has been busy for you lately! Keep on keeping on! Thinking of you!

I'm fabbie at disastrous baking - especially flat cakes... glad the party (and cake stall) went to plan :D
I hope Izzy's bully leaves her alone. Kids don't need bullying and tramua in their lives.
Your birthday cakes turn out like mine but im glad it was tastier than it looked. Lol
My eldest gets bullied too, and I am trying to get is sorted. I really sympathise.
What a shame about the cake, but I'm sure it was still delicious!!
Hope Izzy's school probs are sorted soon hun.Glad you are taking advice from Annie!
