Kenner Road Kits

blogged by me domestic goddess On 5/30/2010 02:55:00 PM 4 lovely comments
Before I start, I had written this post yestertday afternoon, and the whole post got deleted by a slip of my finger, made me so angry I shut my laptop down and sulked! Feel better that I have got that off my chest!
Now to blogging LOL.

I am so saddened that I have received my last Kenner Road Kit. I *heart* Kenner Road kits. I love the way Kerry Lynn puts her kits together; ecclectic with vintage finds, so very me!
I really do understand her decision to shut the company down to spend more time with her family, BUT has she really thought about me, has she??
  • How I stalk the post man every month for my Box of gorgeousness,
  • How I wait with much anticipation for my monthly sneek peek newsletter
  • How I drool over Kerry Lynn and Gigi's blogs at their beautiful Kenner Rd creations
  • How I pencil in Kenner Rd scrapping time on my calender every month

I guess not, and hey why should see, I am just being selfish. As someone who used to run a kit company, I know how time consuming it is, and I really do wholeheartledly support her decision, I am just a selfish scrapbooker, LOL

I came home from our extended stay in Orlando, to not 1 but 2 Kenner Rd kits, sadly 1 of those boxes was to be my last kit.

Anyways, I have an unfinished layout sitting on my desk that I am going to finish, using my Kenner Rd Kit.
Photos are of Lilly last weekend when we had the most amazing weather, 29c!!! in MAY, that is pretty darn hot for us.

Supplies : Kenner Rd Kit, Such Sweet Tierney buttons, ColorBox diecuts, Papermania chipboard, KandCo chipboard title, AC journaling pen, Anna Griffin butterfly punch

I also completed a layout for The Scrapbook Magazine using a Kenner Rd kit for Issue 47.
Here are some sneaks

You can see the whole layout shortly in Issue 47.

We have gorgeous weather forcast this week, which has made me a happy bunny, as we have a picnic planned with firends on Wednesday, and so far it is forecast to be hot hot hot!!

Tonight Pencil Lines sketch 189 goes live, so do pop by. I am also writing up the newsletter this week. If you are not a subscriber go sign up now.

Have a lovely bank holiday weekend and thanks for stopping by.

Dear Izzy,
I just didn't think I could miss you as much as I do. Only 29 hours to go, and we all be together once more.
All the tears and nerves last week, I guess have been forgotton. You must be having a wonderful time, I havnt heard from you!
How many self adressed envelopes did you pack?, LOL. I came rushing home hoping to find a white 6" x 6" envelope with your handwriting on it, but alas, nothing.
Its OK, I am alittle sad and having a bit of a sulk, but I know no news is good news and you are having a ball!

Lilly and I are baking you a special cake this afternoon and your favourite dinner, Shephards Pie ( cottage pie for the cooks out there).
Poor Lilly has not been herself, and has been moping around the house in your tatty teddy dressing gown and nightie all week, she looks like a liitle orphan. She even went to bed with your huge teddy thats nearly as big as her!!

Well not long now, we are all counting down the hours till we see you darling.
Have a wonderful time at the disco tonight, you will look beautiful.

Lots of love Mummy xxxx

DotcomGiftsShop is a wonderful online shop, for all your gift needs! I especially love their Vintage Chic section and garden section.
I recived an email from Thomas a few weeks ago telling me I had been selected as a favourite blog of theirs. I was so thrilled, next thing I recieve a box of "heart" goodies for me to review.

Today I am doing a review on this beautiful white heart tea light holder.

The weekend was beautiful here, a perfect English summers day. Most of the weekend was spent outside, eating every meal on the decking, even a cooked breakfast on the BBQ for Sunday!
The white heart tea light holder was a perfect addition to our outdoor living this weekend.

The tea light has a 55cm chain length; this is a perfect length for hanging in our patio unbrella, still casting atmospheric light onto the table, and not too long that it was in the way of our food on the table.
We had some breeze Saturday night, and a normal candle/tea light would have blown out, but the door on the front of the heart which houses the tea light, stopped the flame going out; a great addition that I was thankful for. Although I used an ordinary tealight, a scented or citronella tealight would be lovely for an evening. I will definitly add a citronella tea light for out door eating in the future.

The small punch out floral design is very pretty and just enough to still cast some light. These heart tea light holders are perfect on their own, or grouped together hung at different lengths, these will definitley be a talking point at your BBQ/garden party.

If white is not your colour, this tea light holder is also available in red! Measuring 18cm x 18cm and priced at a snip £6.95, this comes highly recommended by me and my family!

I have some cut heart tapes and stickers to play with, and will be reviewing shortly, so do check back. In the meantime, grab a cuppa and start browsing the heart gifts at DotcomGiftsshop today, I guarentee you will not be dissapointed, and you WILL be a few pounds poorer, LOL

Sprinklers, Swimsuits and Sunshine

all add up to a weekend with plenty of fun!

I do have so much more to share, but either blogger or my computer are not playing ball, and it has taken me forever to upload these few photos!

Anyway, Pencil Lines has gone live with the gorgoeus Lory.
I didn't manage to join in this week, life here as been very emotional as Izzy embarks on her first residential with the school tomorrow. They are going to Scarborough for a week. Izzy has been through a roller coaster of emotions, taking me with her. Today, after a heartbreaking morning, we ventured out to buy last minute toiletries and an outfit for the disco. With all my attention focused on Izzy, little Lilly broke down this evening, confessing how much she will miss Izzy and she doesn't want her to go. All week Lilly has been telling Izzy how much fun she will have fun, and such.
It breaks my heart to see my girls like this, but I know Izzy will have a ball, and Lilly will be OK. Just another "first" for us all to experience. Its been a tough week, but we will all get through it, smiling.
We all leave bright an early tomorrow morning to wave Izzy off. Here's hoping there won't be too many tears amongst us.

Sunshine

blogged by me domestic goddess On 5/22/2010 10:57:00 PM 0 lovely comments
My absence is because we have had the most beautiful weather here; as this can be so short lived, I have spent alot of my time in the garden. All my seeds have at last been planted, along with my window boxes and hanging baskets. Borders have been tidied, lawn has been mowed, and today our first BBQ was lit.

Today we have spent most of it in the garden. the girls have played, Peter and I have been gardening, and a couple of loads of washing have been blowing on the line, also enjoying the sunshine. We had a BBQ, salad and fresh summer fruits, all washed down with cider, a perfect end to a perfect day.

It is days like these, that remind me how beautiful England is. There really is nothing like an English summer. Keeping everything crossed that we do have one this year...

My camera has been doing overtime and I will add some photos to share tomorrow, along with a layout taht was started a few days ago and is patiently awaiting a photo. Yes even my scrapping comes to a halt when the sun shines, LOL.

Has the sun been shining where you are? How have you soent your day?

Enjoy the wonderful weather and thanks for stopping by.

i scrapped just because!

blogged by me domestic goddess On 5/17/2010 04:32:00 PM 8 lovely comments

I scrapped just because I could. Yep, I decided after much faffing at yesterdays crop to scrap becuase i can...such a rare occurance these days, as I most often scrap becuase of a deadline and such.
I pulled out some new My Little Shoebox that had been sent to me by Helen, and put together this fun layout of Izzy.

I even did a bit of doodling, well if you can call it doddling!! LOL. I love how versatile die cut sheets are. This layout has been put together with 1 sheet of cardstock, a die cut sheet 2 strips of paper, and some cute buttons from Such Sweet Tierney.! Now thats what I call budget scrapping.

I have used a ton of 3d pads as well.
These photos are from the weekend at Lillys birthday party. And yes that is my 9 year old wearing her mum's lipstick!!! It does go well though with her headband, don't you think?

Supplies : My Little Shoebox pattern papers, MLS diecut sheet, Bazzill cardstock, AC journal pen, Such Sweet Tierney buttons

Although my weekend was jam packed, it was a lovely weekend. Looking forward to a quieter one this weekend!

Queen Bee

blogged by me domestic goddess On 5/16/2010 12:17:00 AM 2 lovely comments
This Sunday I am teaching at my local crop, using the gorgeous vintage "Queen Bee" papers from Pink Paislee.
I have been wanting to get my hands on these papers as soon as they were released, and eventually, a little later than I had hoped for, LOL, I now have them. I can see a few more layouts being made with this gorgeous line of papers.
I am sharing some sneaks here.

Playing with ribbon; making roses

I used a photo of Lilly as Charlie Chaplain last New Years Eve; added a vintage action from Pioneer Woman, and hey presto I have an authentic looking vintage photo!

Loving the cork buttons!

I did make a simple card with some of the leftovers.

Lilly had her birthday party today; a TinkerBell magical fairy party. I had so much fun planning, and had bought lots of goodies when we were on holiday at Party City, (OMG this place is amazing!!).
I do believe though, this has probaly been my last year doing the magical girly party thing....my baby girl is getting all grown up now!

Lots of photos to share, but for now, my bed is calling!

Night all, hope your Saturday was a good one.

Will He B the 1

blogged by me domestic goddess On 5/11/2010 04:50:00 PM 9 lovely comments
Will he in deed!!! Well I have my man, and nothing is gonna change that! "Will he B the 1" is the name of a fun range of papers by Nikki Sivils.
I had not recived this paper line in my first DT box, and to be honest was a little miffed, BUT Nikki is sooo generous that she sent out another box of goodies with all the product I hadn't recived first time round, and lucky me had lots of "Will he B the 1" for me to play with.
By the way, if you love Nikki Sivils, then you may like to know that she is looking for a new Design Team, how cool is that!.

It has been sooo long since I have been in my studio playing with Nikki Sivils, that I ahd already dedicated this afternoon to scrapping my heart out.
I used photos from our holiday in Florida. Every afternoon we treated ourselves to the most gigantic, scrumptious, lip smacking icecream! Peter and Lilly were queing up for ice cream, whilst Izzy and I waited; perfect photo op !!
So here we are; its good to have photo's of Izzy and I, I am too often behind the camera, so out stretched arm came in handy for these, LOL.

Love these new buttons from Such Sweet Tierney

Supplies : Papermania cardstock, Nikki Sivils pattern paper, Nikki Sivils diecuts, Such Sweet Tierny buttons, rubons.

I enjoyed playing with these papers so much, I made a quick card with some scraps sitting on my desk.

Supplies : Papermania card blank, Nikki Sivils pattern papers, felt alphabet
UK Stockists of Nikki Sivils : Scrap Revolution and Sarah's Cards

I have realised that I haven't yet drawn a name for the Nikki Sivils RAK on NSD!! Smack my wrist. I will draw a name tonight. Check back tomorrow to see if you are the lucky winner.

If you have any layouts/projects using Nikki Sivils, do post a link. We are always looking for layouts to showcase on Nikki's blog.

Pencil Lines and Teresa Collins

blogged by me domestic goddess On 5/09/2010 08:22:00 PM 2 lovely comments
Pencil Lines has been sponsored by Teresa Collins this month, and today was our 2nd week that the design team got to play with Teresa Collins Designs.

I had Welcome Home papers to play with. I love the colour scheme of simple black and white, that Teresa uses with all her collections, adding just a splash of colour to each design.

How I interpreted this weeks sketch:

This sketch called for 2 photo's, but I really wanted to use this photo of us all in the back garden last year. I decided to go with 1 large photo, and then I placed the strip of paper (see sketch) and added die cuts instead of a photo to the right hand side of my layout.

I built up layers/mounts for my photo to sit on. I tied an organza ribbon and sequin ribbon around my photo, and placed a key that I cut from one of the pattern papers.

The chairs are cut from a piece of paper covered in these ornate chairs; they are calling out to cut and raised!
Finally I added a glitter monogram "B" onto my layout.

Supplies : Bazzill cardstock, Teresa Collins pattern paper, American Crafts glitter monogram, Carolee Creations mini alphabet. (excuse the poor photo!)

How are you going to tackle this weeks sketch? Email your layouts to pencillines@googlemail.com, and you could win a stunning RAK from Teresa Collins Designs.

And for the digi scrappers amongst you, here is this weeks template.

Happy Mothers Day, hope you were spoiled rotten...

My baby turned 7!

blogged by me domestic goddess On 5/07/2010 08:29:00 PM 3 lovely comments
She is still my baby girl as is Izzy, but my baby, my youngest, turned 7 yesterday and is looking so grown up. As her birthday fell on a school day, it was a quiet affair. We had a tea party just for the 4 of us, complete with a Hello Kitty cake (i will do the full on baking thing for her party).

My challenge was to do a room makeover in true 60 minute fashion, but without the team of 50 odd peeps, there was just me! I did'nt quiet manage it, and Izzy had to keep Lilly occupied downstairs whilst I blew balloons up and hung her new curtains.

Lilly is a Hello Kitty fan, and this was a great opportunity to give her room some Hello Kitty lovin and lots of black and pink touches!

Everything I bought came from Argos and Dunelm Mill (UK). I will take some proper pictures of her room, but for now here is the birthday girl enjoying her room and messing with her boyfriend!
