Weekend round up

blogged by me domestic goddess On 6/30/2009 11:02:00 AM 2 lovely comments
This weeks Pencil Lines is a real treat, with guest deisgner Christiane Muller returning. I am a huge fan of Christiane and it was such a treat to have her return as this weeks guest artist. this weeks sketch was by me.

I delved into my sacred collection of my dear friend Lucy Folch's designs for ScrapDiary, for this weeks layout, and added a few Fancy Pants diecuts.
Sunday was crop day and I taught a class using the cute Twitterpated by Imaginesce.

This week I will be adding all leftover crop kits and papers to the Scrapping Angels website, so do keep an eye out. I have also taken off all Angel Kisses and have made up huge grab bags with over 500 blooms for only £5.00. An absolute bargain, so do grab one while they last. Once they are gone, they are gone!!
Also Scrapping Angels retreat 5 is live and ready to take your bookings!! 2010 retreat will be held on April 24th - 25th

Hasn't the weather just been manic hot these last few days. I know we just cant stop complaining us Brits! Its either, too wet, too cold, too windy or too hot!
The girls are loving it, and I got out the sprinkling for them to play in after school yesterday. Hours of fun with a sprinkler....

I have been suffering from chronic back pain since Sunday night, and my mini book class has been delayed. Check back tomorrow, and I will have it all uploaded!!
Before I go, have you ordered your Graze box?? Check this post for a free box.
I finished reading "Breaking Dawn" Sunday night. I was really disappointed with the ending. I won't say anymore in case you haven't read it, but after 4 books and hours of reading it did just seem to end!

Anyways, I am now reading "Broken for You" by Stephanie Kallos. A complete change from Vampires and Werewolves, LOL
See you tomorrow.
Thanks for stopping by..

Scrappy Weekend...

blogged by me domestic goddess On 6/27/2009 11:56:00 PM 4 lovely comments
Its been a Saturday full of scrapping, card making and "baking" (well chilling really) cornflake cakes.. Izzy who requested cornflakes, has now decided she really doesn't like them!!! So what to do with them.... well smother them in melted chocolate, golden syrup, butter and chill. That's just what I did, and they will be coming to the crop with me tomorrow :).

Lilly was at a friends for the day, Izzy and Peter were slouched in front of the sofa gaming and I was scrapping to my hearts content in the studio.

Completed my class for tomorrow and made a couple of cards as well. Love the Twitterpated range from Imaginesce. The papers are all double sided and glossy in places. The red and white polka dot is to die for!!

Then I finished off my Pencil Lines layout using the whimsical papers by my dear friend Lucy Folch for ScrapDiary. Her papers are so original, I still have a complete paper collection with the cutest Russian Dolls on it just waiting to be used. But I can't bear to cut into it, LOL

This weekend we have watched some brilliant movies on BluRay as well.
Last night we watched "The Wrestler" with Mickey Rourke. A brilliant and BAFTA winning performance, really enjoyed it.
This evening we watched "Milk" with Sean Penn as Harvey Milk. Another well deserved Oscar winning performance by Sean Penn. An amazing film, which had me crying at the final scene.
Looking forward to my crop tomorrow and seeing the ladies again.
So what have you been up to this weekend?

The Construction Industry Summer Ball

blogged by me domestic goddess On 6/21/2009 08:20:00 PM 2 lovely comments
and not a hard hat in sight!
Last night Peter and I attended a Summer Ball in aid of the Lighthouse Charity at The Artillery Garden near Finsbury Park. The evening was wonderful, and we had a lovely time. There was a fun fair, a casino, Ice cream machine on tap!, free flowing Champagne and Pimms, lots of entertainment in between courses, and a disco. The venue was huge with several Marquees, and I so wished I could have taken my camera in, but I was on stricked instructions not too!

There was a photographer taking photos, and we did go and have some taken, but when we viewed them, they just weren't for us, so the only photos we have are from the hotel room.
My darling husband look so dashing in his dinner suit, and I borrowed the most amazing beaded deep burgundy dress, with a plunged spider web back from a friend. I had my sucky in knickers, boob tape and party heels on to get me through the night! Needs must and all that!! YOu acn just about see the back of my dress in the mirror.

The auction was amazing with donations of Centre court box tickets to Wimbledon, Golf at the Belfry for 4 people all inclusive, a box for 10 at the Rugby, to name just a few. But with the starting price at £500, they were all just a bit out of our range!! I believe the Rugby went for nearly £3,000!!
Hopefully lots of money was raised by the 700+ guests who attended.

Whilst I thought I had composed myself well all evening, Peter drops a bombshell of several incriminating photos of me when we had got back to the hotel.....Apparently I had got the fit of the giggles after falling off the bed!

Oh well, it amused him if nothing else, LOL
Hope you all had a lovely weekend, and dads everywhere enjoyed Fathers Day.

Hugs

Dusting...

blogged by me domestic goddess On 6/18/2009 10:27:00 PM 3 lovely comments

and not the furniture type, although I have down some of that as well, LOL. No its time to dust off those running shoes and start training for the 5k Adidas run in London, taking place on September 6th. Yesterday I applied for my runners number, and I am all set to do my little bit for Dad and MS.

Most of you will remember that I lost my Dad (coming up to) 3 years ago to MS. I try to raise as much money as I can through various fundraising events throughout the year for MS, and every September I run 5k with tears rolling down my cheeks for the first 1k thinking of Dad, and reminding myself why i am putting this unfit and overweight body through the pain of running a measly 5k, LOL. But it is all so worth it. The adrenalin of running with 22, 000 other woman all running for a Charity close to their hearts, for a loved one, is just amazing!

Of course it helps every year having the most loyal supporters present, Sue, Holly, Peter , Izzy and Lilly, who make me feel like I have run a 26mile marathon, with all their love and support that they bestow on me.

So running shoes, its you and me for the next couple of months and a new play list to inspire me for the Ipod.

Any suggestions for good running music?

Digi Layout

Its been a while since I played with digi; paper scrapping will always be my first port of call. But it was late on Saturday night and I fancied a play. I chose my favourite digi shop for a kit, OScraps, and then headed to Pencil Lines for a sketch.

I chose sketch 117 by Michelle. You can download the sketch template here . All our weekly sketches are available as a digital template, do check the webiste for downloads.

Garden Update

blogged by me domestic goddess On 6/16/2009 11:37:00 PM 4 lovely comments
The beautiful weather lately, and the mix of rain showers last week has given the garden a burst of live and it is blooming in full colour at the moment.
This rose is my favourite in the garden at the moment. It has the most beautiful fragance and the blooms are huge!!

The vegetable patch is going great guns, although we did loose a few seedlings due to the weeds. From what I have read it can take 2 years to eradicate weeds from a new raised bed, which means we have a long way to go!
The lettuce is nearly ready to harvest, and have grown loads since these photos taken at the weekend, seriously!

The tomato plants are going great guns as well.

Here are the beans,

We lost a few peas, but i have replanted the ones Lilly started from seed in the green house so we are back on track with them.

We do also have carrots, potatoes, beetroot, peppers and some strawberries happily growing away.

The herbs from seed didn't work, so I am going to try again. My basil plant I bought is still going strong so I may but the supermarket plants and re pot outside.

Is anyone else doing homegrown veggies this year? What do you find works well? Any tips on growing winter veggies? I have only done tomatoes and lettuce for the summer, this is our first year taking things a bit more serious!

Nothing to do with veggies nor flowers, but so proud of Lilly; I had a phone call form her instructor today and he wants to put Lilly in for her first belt on July 5th!!!! Lilly is so excited!

Thanks for stopping by

PS: is anyone else having problems putting inamges into blogger posts at the moment??

Warriors and BBQ's

blogged by me domestic goddess On 6/15/2009 11:29:00 PM 5 lovely comments
The weekend went too fast, as they always do. This past weekend was spent with good friends and their kids, as well as Izzy best friend Hannah. We had a BBQ Saturday night.
Mike made homemade burgers and bought along some ribs, and I did sticky BBQ chicken, sausages and my fav salad tomato and mozzarella, drizzled with olive oil and homegrown basil, and a salad of pine nuts and mango, yummy! All washed down with some Bulmers over ice...the perfect weekend.

The night ended with a good old session on Rockband, Guitar Hero and Singstar finishing on Bohemian Rhapsody, Wayne's World style, oh if only we had a video camera hooked up for that one!

The kids piled upstairs for about 10pm, but I could still hear peels of laughter at 1.30am when I went to bed...
Sunday morning we all woke up to another beautiful summers day and I cooked a full English for us all.
The kids started playing warriors, carried over from the night before, with our tree house being base. Well I just couldn't resist adding a few Anna touches........

Scary bunch eh?! Its amazing how kids can entertain them selves on so little. A few sticks from the wood supply, some discount face paint from Claires, and my ribbon stash!

It was soon time for Mel, Mike and the kids to go home and for us to enjoy the rest of the day in the sun. I did some more weeding in the garden and planted up some more peas and lettuce. the vegetable garden is looking great, and the lettuce will be ready to pick by next weekend. I can't wait!

On a final note, last night we watched The Reader with Kate Winslett; a brilliant film and very touching, I recommend highly. Anyone else seen it?
Tomorrow a garden update! Couldn't resist a tour with my camera over the weekend!
Hugs and thanks as always for stopping by, and don't be afraid to leave a comment, I love hearing from you.

The sun was shining today....

and lovely it was too... Izzy was still not at school today with this weird chickenpox virus. She has been normal in herself except for this rash, so we have made the decision to let her go back to school tomorrow as she has a school field trip to go on and she so doesn't want to miss it.
Today Izzy and I had a few errands to run, and then we came home, open all the windows and doors had a cheese and salad wrap for lunch and scrapped the afternoon away, whilst listening to MTV or something similar!
Here is a sneak of my Pencil Lines layout using some gorgeous Prima.

and Izzy worked with some DCWV Rock Star papers and chipboard. Yes Izzy requested the closeup shot like Mummys!!

I love what Izzy did, she really took her time designing her layout and choosing her embellishments. She can get a bit carried away at times, and create 6 "master pieces" in less than an hour! Izzy is really chuffed with this layout and explained what everything met. How she dreams of wanting to be a rock star, and that she wants to live the dream one day....

3.30pm came round too quick and it was time to pick Lilly up from the school bus, and this is what greeted us! Yay, after about what feels like forever, Lilly's first tooth fell out at school. She is so excited about the Tooth Fairy coming (please God remind me tonight!!!), and she has written the sweetest letter, ending with a "please can I have a £2 coin so that I will now have £10". Lilly has 8 £1 coins and wants 2 more to make £10! bless....

After the excitement of the tooth, we decided to pop over to the park with a pack of donuts and meet some friends. Of course my camera came with me and I just had to have a play taking the odd "swing shot" or two!

Finally, just had to share what Peter and I are up to next Saturday...
We are off to the Construction Industry Summer Ball.

yes you read right, a FUNFAIR!!! now to hire a frock...
