Party Girl

blogged by me domestic goddess On 5/31/2009 11:01:00 PM 4 lovely comments
Yesterday, Lilly had her belated birthday party. Peter and I escorted 9 children to the cinema, followed by Frankie and Bennys. Prior to Saturday, everyone I spoke to thought I had lost my marbles, taking 9 kids to the cinema, and I will admit to being amongst them, BUT I can honestly say that it was a breeze and everyone was as good as gold, and a real pleasure to be with.

Lilly and Kieren, her boyfriend, bless.........

Izzy and her best friend Hannah

A great party was had by all..Not the greatest photo's by any means, but I adore the last two.

The weather has been just gorgeous these last few days, and today I chose to sit indoors for 5 hours.........am I bonkers, nope not at all, as I spent it in the company of 13 wonderful Ladies cropping and discussing Britain's Got Talent! I managed to start my first 8" x 8" album dedicated to our holiday in Provence. I can see me upgrading my mini books to this size for travel, really enjoy the 8" x 8" size.

I taught a layout class using Pink Paislee Captivating. I have 2 kits left if anyone is interested, just email me for details.

Finally Pencil Lines has gone live with a sketch by me and guest designer, my fellow Bad Girl Dena Coe. Love Dena's style, and her layout is just amazing!

I used a mish mash of papers:

Basic Grey
Making Memories
Fancy Pants
Sasafrass Lass

Girls are back to school tomorrow, I am back to work and life returns to resemble normality!
Hope you had a fab weekend

Its nearly all over..

half term that is, and I don't feel like we did much at all! I have been so busy working on a really important project this week, and the girls have been so good. Today we went down to Hatfield to meet up with Sue and the girls to watch Hannah Montana the Movie. I had reservations, i am not a huge HM fan at all, but to be honest it was a good Disney movie full of all the classic Disney cliches, and there were a few wet eyes in our row! After the cinema we popped into Claire's accessories to spend a small fortune, and I picked up some very Prima like flowers for future pages.

A quick lunch at McDonalds and then it was off to Ti Qwan Do for Lilly. I have no photos, not by choice, but Peter went off with my camera today and I am desperate to get some photos of Lilly all suited and booted.

Lilly has been asking for over a year to do Karate and her time has come, and we enrolled her properly on Tuesday. I must say she is an absolute natural!, and love the whole "sir" and discipline side of things, its fantastic!

Back to our weekend away.. her are a few photos from the funfair. Lilly is a true funfair addict and will go on absolutely anything!, Izzy on the other hand likes rides that stay on the ground and don't move fast, and me, well I like the candyfloss and donuts, LOL!!

Its feels like ages, but this weekend is my local crop and I am teaching a Pink Paislee Captivating class. I managed a layout and 2 cards from the kit. I actually like my cards, the layout does look better IRL, me and photographing layouts are not good!

The sun is shining, the sky is blue and our veggies are doing a great job of growing there little hearts out. I am going to watch them grow with a glass of wine!! much needed as tomorrow I am chaperoning 9 children to the cinema for Lilly's belated birthday party, wish me luck!

The Beach....

blogged by me domestic goddess On 5/27/2009 07:13:00 PM 6 lovely comments

Whilst we were away at the weekend, we spent a blissful day on the beach, followed by the funfair, finally ending up at the park before dinner!

I have always lived by the beach, from a child who spent her school holidays and days on the beach at Hove, where my dad would be selling cold drinks and ice cream, yummy!!
Then I moved to Hong Kong and lived on the expat island , Discovery Bay on Lantau Island. Weekends were spent on the beach at the Country Club. I returned to the UK, and the North East beckoned, Tynemouth to be exact, where I lived 5 minutes from the beach!

Now as a family we live in Cambridgeshire, and Fen land, lots of countryside and rivers, but alas no beaches. Izzy remembers vividly the days we spent on Tynemouth beach, and lapped up the whole beach day with open arms!

Adore this photo of Izzy, she is so beautful! I am sure it won't be long before I scrap this one!

Lilly, pottered , just like she did as a toddler 4 years ago! Playing in the sand and making deep holes!

I must fish put some old photos to compare! The photo's of Izzy are identical, apart from she has grown so much, LOL

These 2 people, better known as our Geordie mates (the Moons), are the most wonderful people you could meet. The girls adore them and Kevin sure knows how to raise a smile or two, even when The Toon Army lost and were relegated, awwww.

And what a coincident that another Geordie friend was our Pencil Lines guest at the weekend! Maria McPherson.

I love this photo of Izzy, she still looks like my little girl here... I used lots of Making Memories that I bought from 3 Jolly Scrappers at the retreat last month.
I am off to curl up on the sofa with a glass of wine and the July issue of Scrapbook Trends that came through the door today! and watch The Apprentice...

Thanks for stopping by,

He officially came 2nd, But in my eyes he is a winner. Adam Lambert was/is amazing!!! He reminds me of Marc Bolan, Elvis Presley all mixed up. I could watch him sing all day long!!

Who was the winner on the day for you? What was your favourite Adam moment? I just cant decide! Loved his Motown week and that outfit for Kiss last night was just amazing!! Loving those boots, LOL.

Flowers, veggies and butterflies

The weather, although windy has been pretty OK these last few days, which in turn has caused the garden to blossom and our veggie seeds to flourish!
Lilly is very excited to see all her hardwork planting her seeds, now sprouting little green stalks and leaves....

Here we have lettuces that are going great guns!

and these are our sunflower seeds.

Not much happening to the tomatoes, sweet peas or herbs that are worth photographing!. The beans on another note may need a quick snap!

With half term next week, fingers crossed the weather stays dry and we can start separating plants and popping some out into the borders.
I am taking regular pictures of our seedlings and vegetable patch for educational reasons you understand! A mini book may come out of it at the end of the season....in the meantime we will be learning about the science!

I actually got some scrapping done yesterday afternoon. And this is what I came up with. More butterflies and lots of scrumptious Making Memories.

Only sneaks as it is this weeks Pencil Lines sketch!
Just a short post today, have lots to do before I pick the girls up from school!
Thanks for stopping by

Love this quote that came into my inbox yesterday! Something to think about
“We could learn a lot from crayons; some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, while others bright, some have weird names, but they all have learned to live together in the same box. ”

Sunday Scrapping

blogged by me domestic goddess On 5/17/2009 03:51:00 PM 6 lovely comments
Its been a lazy day today. The weather here is windy with intermittent heavy showers, causing the girls to run inside squealing in high pitch voices!
I have got on with a large "thank you card" list, which I am so pleased I actually spared myself 1 hour to write. It is long overdue!

I really am the worst card making in the world. With this in mind I bought myself the latest issue of Card Trends. Curled up on the sofa today to have a flick through, and was completely inspired. Rushed of to my studio and.................................. I really cannot make cards!

I tried and here are my measly efforts. In fact they really are so poor that you are only seeing a glimpse LOL. Anyone have any helpful tips to turn me into a budding card maker?

I even work with a square piece of card so that I treat it like a mini scrapbook page, but still....nothing.

And the aftermath!

Pencil Lines goes live tonight. Here are some sneaks of my layout.

Pencil Lines is having a revamp, and I have been working hard behind the scenes with the help of Michelle. The new look site will be all ready for June 7th.

I am also giving my blog a facelift, so expect some changes this week!
Hope you are having a relaxing weekend.

Its Childs Play

blogged by me domestic goddess On 5/16/2009 01:26:00 PM 4 lovely comments
Do you look at your children and wish they would stay young and innocent? Stay young playing with proper kids toys and not the DS!!! ( oo me and computer games do not have the best relationship, unless its RockBand or the Wii , they don't count, LOL)

Thursday after school I had some chores to do and had to pop into St Neots, Izzy and Lilly in tow. We popped into the department store, I say department store but its just a large shop really, anyways, we popped upstairs to have a nose around and the girls spotted toys each. Both had money left over form Christmas and birthdays, so I check them out for my approval!

Lilly was eyeing up a toy post office, and Izzy had her eye on a toy sweet shop, complete with sweets of course! I succumbed and told them they had to pay me back as soon as we got home, before the boxes were ripped about and parts lost!!!

OMG the girls have played with them non stop. Izzy has eaten all her profits, LOL, no surprise there. Even Peter was postmaster this morning! I am so loving the magazines, faux tax disc and TV licences, so so cute!

Izzy's little sweet shop did come complete with sweets I loved, like dolly mixtures, and midget gums, but her shop is bare now!
It has been such a pleasure to see my girls be kids, even if it only last the weekend!

The Great Fire of London

blogged by me domestic goddess On 5/14/2009 03:06:00 PM 7 lovely comments
In September 1666, much of London vanished in the Great Fire, now known as The Great Fire of London. Lilly has been learning about this event at school and is completely wrapped up in the whole thing! Getting very annoyed that the French weavers were jailed, when it was really the bakers fault for not checking his oven before bed! Bless her, if there is anything you want to know about the fire in 1666, Lilly can tell you!

She will usually start a conversation with
" do you know about The Great Fire of London?"
to which you MUST reply
"No"
" well, in 166 there was a baker in Pudding Lane, who was baking bread and went to bed. He didn't check the ovens and there was a big fire"

and then she proceeds to tell you how the fire spread and how all the people escape! I really am not to sure who the French Weavers are, or if she has misheard her teacher, but she is adamant the French Weavers were sent to jail!
For anyone who would like to know more, LOL! here is a great website

A few weeks ago, year 1/2 spent the day dressed up as an Edwardian with guest speakers throughout the day to learn more.
And here is my little darling!

I have had a lovely afternoon, meeting up with Dawn, and then having a little browse around the shops and picked up some bargain stitchinhg templates by Papermania.
Hope you have all had a lovely day, I am hoping to get some scrapping done before watching American Idol. I am supporting Adam all the way!!!

Sowing the Seeds of Love...

blogged by me domestic goddess On 5/11/2009 03:08:00 PM 7 lovely comments
The weekend was spent in the garden, digging weeds, turning soil and raking. Lilly and I sowed our vegetable seeds and flower seeds to pop in her little greenhouse, and we sowed some seeds direct onto our new raised beds that Peter made for us.

After 2 weekends solid in the garden, lots of digging and pruning, we are getting somewhere, and the garden is looking pretty respectable again!. Even Peter has enjoyed himself, which is a miracle as he hates anything to do with work in the garden. He just likes to sit back and enjoy. unfortunately, last year I had very little time out in the garden due to our wonderful British Summer, NOT! and it was showing. Now we need to just keep on top of all our hard work!

We finally bought a composting bin, and the girls have had great fun trotting to the end of the garden to pop vegetable peelings and half eaten apples into it! Its amazing what amused children. Ask them to put their rubbish in the bin, and you are answered back with a moan and a groan, but send them to the bottom of the garden and bobs your uncle, job done!
Next weekend another trip to the Garden Centre for some pretties to add to the borders. I also need to do the hanging baskets and window boxes.
I also managed to get my Pencil Lines layout done this week. My photo of the layout is absolute pants! Which is why I am showing only closeups, you will have to go over to Pencil Lines to see all the DT's wonderful work and my terribly photographed layout!

I used Sassafrass Lass papers and stickers.
Here are 2 layouts I did at Scrapajacks Retreat Friday;

Love the new collections from My little Shoebox and Bella Blvd.

The sun is still shining here, and will be for another day at least, then we are forecast heavy rain, boo........
Enjoy the good weather whilst it lasts! I am off to tidy my studio and start work on a big project I am working on this year!

Hugs and thanks for stopping by.
