Happy 29th!

blogged by me domestic goddess On 2/29/2008 05:14:00 PM 4 lovely comments
Today is a leap year where us girls can propose to the man we love. I didn't need to do this as I am a happily married girl :):), was there anyone out there who proposed to their partner??
I am so busy and the day is almost over so i am leaving you with a photo from the 365 challenge. I have realised that not every day I am going to manage a SP, and i mustn't let that get me down. This simple photo of Izzy's Marie Cure daffodil means alot to me and Lilly came home with her pot too today , makes me smile!

Joy enters the room. It settles on the windowsill, waiting to see whether it will be welcome here." Kim Chernin

I know this is not a SP, but daffodils mean so much to me. The first flower Peter ever bought me, my girls were both christened in March to bowls of sunny daffodils. Daffodils were also the first flowers i bought my dad when i moved him to a nursing home closer to me. I have some form of a daffodil looking at me at all times. A wooden one in my office that Lilly made me, my silk daffodil from Peter and the first bloom to shoot in my garden was a miniature daff! Reminds me of Dad. And this pot is from Izzy!!

Did the earth move for you to?

blogged by me domestic goddess On 2/27/2008 07:45:00 PM 9 lovely comments

Wow what a strange and scary feeling. I woke up at 12.45 just before Peter walked in from work. Went to my office to turn the computer off and experienced the strangest feeling of a huge force trying to push me of the chair. I was pretty scared, and Peter called out "what the £$%^&* was that?" and then he said "I think that was an earthquake" well 15 minutes afters Sky News reported an earthquake in Bedford, Norwich and Lincolnshire. We are 5 miles from Bedford!!!! and a 4.7 Richter was recorded. The girls slept through it, no damage was done to the house or our possessions. It was just such a shock, and you end up on tenderhooks wondering if its going to happen again! Of course it has been the talk on the national and local news all day.

Today has been spent creating for Scrap Genie, have made a cute little home project. Sneaks tomorrow.

I didn't make it as one of the new Fashionistas, although at first I was a little disappointed , when you see what i was up against it really is no surprise at all, and I am so proud to have been amongst the final 40, with 40 talented scrappers from all over the world. Congrats to my SISters, Lucy, Juljen and Drummer Girl, so pleased to see your names up there!!

Headed off to Weight Watchers thsi morning and have lost another 2 1/2 lbs, a total of 8lbs now, which means i went and had my eyebrows shaped at the salon this afternoon. Just need tor each the 1 stone mark for a new haircut!!!

Not much else to report, gradually catching up on paperwork and hopefully i can spend a little bit of time blog surfing after Master Chef!!!

Teaching

blogged by me domestic goddess On 2/26/2008 10:40:00 AM 9 lovely comments
I have had a busy weekend teaching at Stevenage and Buckden. I love teaching, love the interaction with fellow scrappers. I am happy to say that I will be teaching lots more this year. Thanks to Sue for being a fab PA, this weekend hehehehe.

I seem to have only been home properly for 2 days last week, of which Izzy was not happy about. The girls have been so lucky having me at home all the time for them, getting them ready for school, collecting them from school, cooking dinner, reading and putting them to bed, this week has just been a little shock to the system, as I was not around as much. Izzy and I have had a heart to heart and i think she understands, bless. Tonight I have both their parents evenings and then we will head somewhere for a bite to eat as a treat.

This week although I am a WAHM I am a very very busy WAHM. Lots of projects to do for Scrap Genie, Bubbly Funk, Scrapping Angels, ScrapMuse and a GDT spot for a French site this weekend. I spent yesterday catching up on paperwork and today I will be finally catching up on my 365. Last week was hard to do self portraits, but i still have a photo a day if not always of me!

Loving next months Scrapping Angels Kit, using BG Two Scoops.

This weeks Pencil Lines sketch has gone live with Asa Bergstrand, a very talented Swedish scrapper.

I used Prima papers, and new release MME paper embellies. I will admit to not being very fond of the Prima paper lines, but seeing them IRL, i changed my mind and did 3 LO's whilst I was at Stitches with Prima ranges.

Spring has Sprung

blogged by me domestic goddess On 2/12/2008 07:37:00 PM 6 lovely comments
It has definatly started to spring its shoots and blooms here in Cambridgeshire, which is the reason for my lack of appearence and blogging. We have been out on a mammoth walk Saturday, Sunday we fed the birds and checked the bulbs, and Monday i decided to start re decorating the girls rooms!!!

Back to Saturday, and our little adventure!. Maps printed, hotspots noted, Whale Pond, Witches Caven, Hearts Wood, Wolf Lair and so on. Izzy was in charge of the map, Lilly had her binoculers, for spotting wildlife, witches, wizards to be found. Eventually we found the entrance to the woods and much to our despair their was a "keep out" notice, and the farmer arrived, oops. He kindly redirected us to a path and explained the wood would be open on Good Friday for the blubell festival (cannot wait!). So we headed off back on the right path, spotted a weazel and what we think was a young deer passing in the wood. Izzy started to have a tantrun and a screaming and crying fit. Our adventure had turned into the best part of a 3 hour jaunt, much to her despair of stravation, death and never to walk again. Meanwhile Lilly entertained us with her singing for 2 hours, and Izzy accompanied her with tears and screams! I am glad to report, no deaths, no stravation and no injurys, we all arrived safely to the warmth of home!

Sunday, the girls and I headed of to the supermarket, stocked up on healthy, nutricious foods and then I had a brainwave to redecorate the girls bedrooms this week amongst my long list of projects to complete(see last post). We dropped by B&Q and wandered around the paint department, and came home with white paint, sparkly raspberry, bright green, ruby red and purple passion, as well as a pink rose laden lampshade and a hot pink lantern. I also picked up a couple of bunches of Tulips to brighten the house.

Monday. I stripped Lillys room and began decorating. 4 hours later i emerged, exhausted, hands dry and crinkling like prunes after all the scrubbing of doors and skirting boards with the sugar soap. Lilly is over the moon, and i am just making some wall art to complete the look, as well as a trip to Ikea for some essentials!. Izzy's room will be tackled next week, where we are doing a wall of large coloured spots, and 1 sparkly pink wall.

As you can tell its is Spring and I am on my decorating and cleaning mission!

Now to the scrapping. Pencil Lines went live Sunday to another week of great inspiring layouts and a fab Japenese guest artist. We also have a fab competiton for an April GDT so do check the site out.

I used Tinkering Inks, Foofala, Daisy D papers and the usual smattering of embellies from my stash!

I have been painting a project today, that I think will be my Fashionista entry. Not sure yet. Here is a peek anyways.

I think that is me up to date. I am off to Annies Thursday for a valentines tea party and then Sues friday for the usual Deacon fun!

Oh I have caught up with posting my 365's as well
Hugs, and thanks for popping by.

Ouch!

blogged by me domestic goddess On 2/08/2008 04:26:00 PM 11 lovely comments
I started training for this years 5K and 10K run's yesterday, and today I am mighty sore. At least though I got out and have started. I am hopi9ng the weather stays nice and dry so i can get back out this weekend.
The girls have broken up now for the week and I am looking forward to having them around. In the meantime I do have a fair bit to do. Projects for Scrapping Angels, Easy Craft Projects, Bubbly Funk, SIStv, Pencil Lines, 365 Challenge, and a class I am teaching at the Great Ashby Crop at the end of the month. I am going to be a very busy bee these coming days and weeks.

Talking about Scrapping Angels, have you seen this months kit, it is beautiful! Lots of Scenic Route Loveland, Autumn Leaves buttons, diecuts, ribbons and Heidi Swapp hearts. I cannot wait to start creating!

The girls had the school Valentine Disco last night. This being Lillys first school diso, she was so excited and asked to have a "funky" hair style, bless. I did the "funky" hairstyle, she loved it, then she started crying and screaming, pulled it all out and ended up with 2 pigtails/bunches!!!

If anyone is going to Stitches next weekend, do pop by the Scrap Genie stand and say Hi. I will be there along with Debbie Jewell, Sarah Youde and Tracie Hudson who will have just got back from her LA experience!!!
Its back to choosing photos and papers for me now, whilst thinking about what to cook for dinner!

Have a great weekend all!

Lost.....

blogged by me domestic goddess On 2/06/2008 09:37:00 PM 6 lovely comments
another 3 1/2 lbs this week, that makes a total of 5 1/2lbs in 3 weeks, which i am pleased with. Tomorrow I will start my race training for the September 5k and I will also be running a 10k in October. All my application forms have come through, and i am really excited about running again. The atmosphere on race day last year was amazing, emotional and I want to repeat it all again.
peter tossing pancakes

I have had a lovely day in Peterbourough with a dear friend who moved out of the area at the end of last year. Izzy was best friends with her daughter, and I have always got on really well with her mum. I bought a couple of books whilst we were out. One was written by a relative of Jo's and is number 5 in the best sellers list as well as being featured on Richard and Judy's book club!!! "Random acts of Heroic Love" is the title of the book. I have finished "The Thirteenth Tale" today which i thoroughly enjoyed. Cannot wait to climb into bed with my shawl, hot water bottle and a brand new book to read, oh and a cup of chamomile tea!!!

Todays prompt over at 365 was about mud and puddles. Off I triapsed to find a puddle in the village with Izzy and Lilly, tripod, remote control, and camera. I am not sure who had more fun, Lilly or me!!!

OK I am off to snuggle in bed, with my new book, hope your day was fun!
Hugs

Good Day

Feeling the SIStv love today. I made it through to round 3, which i am completley gobsmacked about. There is such awesome talent out there that didnt make it, and this layout did!!
My photo is pants, tbh, as it has been too wet and windy to take a photo outdoors, maybe JJ sympthasised with me!! Do go and check out the galleries over at SIStv , you will be in awe of the amazing work. Then today my Pencil Lines layout from this week was chosen for the Catwalk!!! What a surprise that was. So I am truly smiling from ear to ear.

Finally I managed to finish my 365 layout that i should have had uploaded Sunday night, really sorry ladies. My mojo had been completley exhausted after SIS and it hasnt been till now that i could face it. But I am really pleased with this layout. I asked the 365 ladies to use thier photo from day 32 and add some paint! I used some green paint as a border. the c/s is actually black although it looks brown here:(

I have been tagged 3 times this past week and i promise to get through them. Thanks Lyzzy for tagging me

Weekend Snippets

blogged by me domestic goddess On 2/03/2008 09:02:00 PM 9 lovely comments
Thankfully we have had a dry weekend, which has allowed us to get out for a walk. I do love a good winters walk, feeling the cold air on my cheeks. My bribery this time was "mum's" hot chocolate, piled with whipped cream, marshmallows and pink smarties!! Just what you need after a long walk.

The girls break up from school thursday so i have quite a few bits to complete before the half term
At the last hour I completed my SIStv project for the Fashionista competition. I found this the hardest layout i have ever done, so nervous about submitting. I spent days thinking about what i was going to do, and realised their was no point trying something new, just scrap what comes naturally and best depicts your style, so thats exactly what i did. So many amazing scrappers are in the shortlisted 100 that i am not expecting to get through to the next round, but it would be nice!
Heres a sneak of my entry

Pencil Lines is sketch 70 is live. Another fab multi photo layout.

I used Tinkering Inks and bits left over from the Bad Girls kit.

Lilly amazed me again today. She showed me the bottom of her fruit shoot bottle and told me that the arrows with the number 1 in the middle means you can recycle this bottle! I had no idea. It's so lovely to hear that she is learning. They visited the recycle area in Buckden last week.
Today we got the paints out and then played Buckaroo, well actually its called "Ali Baba" and its a camel not a donkey! And it still has me in stitches and makes me jump when it bucks!

I am off to watch "million dollar baby" on tv and have an early night
Hope your weekend was a good one
hugs
