Scrapping time

blogged by me domestic goddess On 3/27/2011 08:10:00 PM 11 lovely comments
I havn't had the energy to scrap much recently, hence the lack of involvement from me over at Pencil Lines; thank goodness for the amazing design team hey!
Anyways, it is a friends 40th tomorrow and last weekend I had done a photo shoot with the children and his wife (all good friends of ours), and Mel had asked me to do a layout using one of the family photos.
Well I couldn't say no and had to find my energy from somewhere.

This is the photo I used, taken last weekend

And here is the layout, using lots of Webster and Prima. This was my first time using Webster as well, and I may be slightly hooked, just a bit later then everyone else, LOL

Supplies : Webster papers, Jenni Bowlin butterflies, Prima flowers, buttons from my stash, scrapbook frame from Your Touch of Crafts

Its Sunday so don't forget to pop on over to Pencil Lines for a new sketch and guest designer. Also, did you know we have fan page over on Facebook and are giving away a signed copy of Pencil Lines the Sketch Book once we reach 1000 fans! Why not pop over, "like" us and suggest to your friends.

Last few days ...

blogged by me domestic goddess On 3/21/2011 11:53:00 AM 4 lovely comments
Life; we take each day as it comes, with the good and the bad, the ups and the downs. This last week has been a mix of them all. I have been signed off work again with back problems and am now working with a physio and acupuncturist with Bupa to make me fit and able again! It seems that work and me are not very compatable which makes me a bit miserable at the end of the day. I am utilizing the time off for a big rethink and an appointment with the Dr's tomorrow will hopefully give me the answers I am looking for.
The medication I am on totally zonks me but I am not sure actually deals with the pain! I end up taking the meds to take away the rough hungover feeling to then be zonked again and am in a vicious circle of feeling rough, zonked, rough, zonked! Not a good place to be.
I havnt been able to scrap much as I can't sit at my desk for long, the same with the computer. Boohoo!!

Anyways, it was my darling husbands birthday yesterday and we had lunch at Nana's with the family.
I cannot believe how much Izzy is growing some days. She just settled herself in the kitchen with Nana and Auntie Linda busying herself prepping lunch with them!

She also made us breakfast in bed; pancakes of course ;), and had wrapped Peters presents for me, she really can pull out all the stops just when i need her the most!

Hoping this week to start turning a corner, back at the physio on Wednesday, want to get back to editing some photos! My photography website should be live any day, am just waiting for my server to turn the switch on!

Hope you all had a lovely weekend
Thanks for stopping by, hope to have some pretties to share here this week

Wrapping up a few things

blogged by me domestic goddess On 3/13/2011 11:04:00 AM 2 lovely comments
So much to do and always so little time. I am wrapping up the finishing details on my first editorial for Crafts Beautiful. My projects can be seen in the June issue. I have had a lot of fun doing Summer projects; mini book, tag book and a card. I have used Nikki Sivils new release Summer. Start nagging your LSS to get the new ranges in asap, you will not be dissapointed.

Here are a few sneaks to whet the appetite!

I have used Cosmo Cricket, Nikki Sivils, Bazzil, to name a few manufacturers featured.

Hasn't the weather just been gorgeous these last few days. I feel at long last Spring is finally coming out to play. My back hasn't been up to much so I havn't been able to get out in the garden which is really frustrating to say the least! Hopefully the weather will stay dry for the weekend and a family effort will help get my garden weed free and ready for veggie and bedding planting.

Hope you are enjoying the good weather wherever you are.

Such a sad day

blogged by me domestic goddess On 3/11/2011 08:22:00 PM 0 lovely comments
Today started like every other day does. My alarm on my phone goes off and I check Twitter (sad I know), but this morning Twitter was bombarded with messages of devastation in Japan. I got out of bed and turned CNN on and could not believe my eyes.

I have been completely immersed in the news channels all afternoon and am still in shock. Only last month we were praying for the lives of those in Christ Curch New Zealand and now again for those in Japan.

Our dear colleague over at Pencil Lines, Yuko Motoyama lives in Japan in Chiba which is where I believe the oil refinery has blown up.
My thoughts and prayers are with all in Japan and to our dear friend and colleague, Yuko.

Baking Made Easy

blogged by me domestic goddess On 3/06/2011 08:15:00 PM 3 lovely comments
..... with a Kenwood Mixer.

I can multi task whilst baking now I have a Kenwood all singing all dancing mixer. I have had it for a while now and it was the subject of a 365 photo last year. Today it was the subject of my Pencil Lines layout.
I provided this weeks sketch, and using the title of Lorraine Pascale's new book, "Baking Made Easy" as my title with a twist.
I used some Bo Bunny papers I have had for a while, and an old sheet of Pink Paislee, and then added lots of flowers "heart", and some pearls.

Baking Made Easy with a Kenwood Mixer

Supplies : Pink Paislee shaped paper, Bo Bunny Pattern Papers, stickers and alphabet, Making Memories and Prima flowers, Butterfly embossed punch, Kaiser Craft pearls.

Pop on over to Pencil Lines to join this weeks sketch challenge and to enter our readers gallery RAK, this month sponsored by Owl Tree Studio. For our digital scrappers, don't forget to download the FREE template!

Vintage Retro bliss...

blogged by me domestic goddess On 3/05/2011 11:37:00 AM 3 lovely comments
I bought this vintage Petite Typewriter a few years ago. I found it on Ebay through a charity raising money for a hospice. It came in a cute original Petite case and had some ribbon still intact!

I opened the case a week or so ago and the girls were totally fascinated by this piece of history! Loved typing on it and cannot believe that people actually wrote books on it, as Izzy exclaimed to me, LOL. I then had to come clean and say that prior to this it was  pen and paper!!!! LOL

I couldn't help myself take a few Hipstamatic photos of Izzy tip tapping away!

remember the PING noise!
from a 1 finger typepist

to 2 fingers!

Looking forward to catching up on some creating this weekend, and hoping for a dry warmish Sunday so i can crack on in my poor neglected garden!

Have a wonderful Saturday!

Project 365/11

blogged by me domestic goddess On 3/03/2011 06:40:00 PM 2 lovely comments
I am still taking a photo a day with my IPhone (see link above), and I am actually putting these photos and snippets of daily life into some kind of scrapping style. I love Shimelle's Document 2011, and Project 365 by Becky Higgins, and I am using both these designers ideas and doing my own kinda thing.

I have done 2 pages so far, and after printing all January's photo off, DOH!, I may do a third document page just to use some more photos. I need to order a D ring album to store my pages and I will also add any layouts from that month where I used photos from my IPhone as well.
I am loving the concept, as I havn't had to buy any product, just using the piles of crafting stuff I already have; stash busting at the same time!.

What I am using :

American Crafts page protectors 4 x 6 ones
American Crafts 12 x 12 D Ring album
Love Elsie alphabet stamps
Little Musing digital stamps
7 Gypsies calender cards

Would love to see how you are documenting 2011. Just leave me a link in the comments section.

March Madness!

blogged by me domestic goddess On 3/01/2011 03:05:00 PM 2 lovely comments
Pinch punch, the first of the month. Yikes where has 2011 gone, I cannot believe its March 1st already, slow down please, too much to do ....

Anyways back to now , the present!. Do you love a challenge?? Well pop on over here for a chance to win a collection of your choice from Nikki Sivils. You have until the end of March to join in the design teams challenge. Our challenge was to scrap "love".
I chose a non conventional approach, and scrapped this photo of Lilly. I LOVE "The Look"
The look that says :

"You do love me dont you mummy?"
"Well I didn't mean too"
"Please sir can I have some more?" (Oliver Twist style)
"But....."

and the list goes on, you know the type of excuses I am talking about , dont you mums out there? Then they give you "The Look" and all is forgiven!!! This is one of Lilly's many looks, LOL
I used Nikki Sivils "We are Family" product line.

I Just Love THE LOOK

I am in love with Little Musing digital stamps

more burlap buttons and butchers twine

Supplies : Nikki Sivils We are Family pattern papers, Nikki Sivils alphabet, Nikki Sivils burlap buttons, Nikki Sivils die cuts and stickers, Little Musings digital camera stamp, Letraset Pro Markers, Butchers Twine

I adore the kites in this line and had lots of fun using butchers/bakers twine twisting and twirling on my layout. How cute is this shaped paper! Love the colour combination of blue and brown, polka dots as well, how perfect ! If you have never come across SJ's Little Musings, I highly recommend a visit. SJ designs the most adorable digital stamps that are loved by all ages!. I am rather smitten by this camer and her typewriter at the moment.

Hope you have enjoyed seeing some of Nikki Sivils new lines for 2011 so far. Do you have a favorite yet?
