Big Day Today

blogged by me domestic goddess On 8/25/2011 03:21:00 PM 5 lovely comments
Today Izzy had her braces fitted at the orthodentist. The initial feeling scared had been replace by butterflies of excitement, bless her.
I was so surprised at how quick and painless the whole operation was. When I had braces many many years ago. I had the ones you could take out with the plastic roof. When ever mine were fitted or tighten I would come home with my gums bleeding and spend the day with cotton wool in my cheeks.

Izzy has a fixed top row only (train tracks) and has no rubbing on her gums or lips which is fantastic.

As I suspected eating has been a bit of a chore. Lunch was soup and buttered bread, of which the bread got left after one nibble and a few spoons of soup were consumed. I think its the whole nervousness of them breaking thats bothering her.

Before

After

new pink braces!

But on the whole, apart from a few aches (thank you calpol) she is doing really well, and is actually out playing this afternoon!

Any readers out there that have had kids that have gone through the same, any words of wisdom would be gratefully received!

New Nikki Sivils

blogged by me domestic goddess On 8/17/2011 08:23:00 PM 3 lovely comments
I actually scrapped last week, and played with a couple of the new Nikki Sivils lines. One of my favorite being the "Get Well Soon" papers! AS mums with cameras we all snap photos off our poorly kids and I have several photos over the years. I started off with a few photos when Lilly was poorly a few months back.
All taken with my IPhone and edited on my IPhone.

Germs

Supplies : Nikki Sivils Get Well Soon papers, diecuts and stickers

My next layouts is with "School is Cool", although there are a few Americanized stickers in general these papers are great for us English scrappers! I scrapped the girls on Sports Day, which I scrap every year!!
Love that the photos are always so colourful, and these papers are bright and funky!

Friendship Layout

Sometimes when I am commisoned to do a layout for a magazine, I get sent papers/embellishments to use. Lindsey from the Scrapbook Magazine sent me some Bo Bunny many moons ago for an issue of The ScrapBook Magazine.

Not my usual colour choices, but after playing around for a bit I came up with this layout using an old photo of Sue and I.

3d stickers are old Basic Grey/KandCo

Supplies : Bo Bunny papers, Prima flowers, Maya Road felt bird, Basic Grey 3d stickers, MM alphabet, Crate chipboard, Websters ribbon, pearls from stash

I loved how the Crate chipboard worked so well with the Bo Bunny papers.
As I write this post the heavens have opened and it looks more like a winters afternoon then summer!

Hope you are all enjoying the school holidays, thanks for stopping by

Over the last few weeks I have started receiving layouts I have had published in The Scrapbook Magazine and Crafts Beautiful. As you can imagine most of the layouts were done months ago and its always a nice surprise when they are returned. I had forgotten a few of the layouts!

Today I am going to share a favourite I did for The Scrapbook Magazine using Nikki Sivils "Its Your Day".
Lilly and her BF at her birthday party last year. I had managed to buy lots of goodies from Florida for Lilly's Tinkerbell theme at a fraction of the cost here in the UK.

love the party hat bunting!

cute buttons from Such Sweet Tierney

Chinese Lanterns

blogged by me domestic goddess On 8/04/2011 03:54:00 PM 1 lovely comments
Saturday was the annual Bowkis get together and memorial for all those we have lost. As always I took loads of photo's but today I am going to share one of Peter and his brother lighting the Chinese sky lanterns, ten in total for each person we have lost but always remember.

A totally magical moment for us all. I went up Castle Hill with Peter and his brother and Sister to snap photo's whilst everyone else looked on from Nana's garden. We could here them cheering every time one went up.
I looked at purchasing these a few years back and they were not cheap, today Tesco sell them in packs of 10 for £10! a total bargain don't you think.
Hope to share some more photos by the end of the weekend with you all form the day.
