Weekend Party!

blogged by me domestic goddess On 7/28/2008 05:47:00 PM 4 lovely comments

This weekend was the Bowkis Golf memorial. Held every year in memory of Peter's Dad, and to remember those who we have lost. This year 4 teams (16 golfers), play a golf tournament, and I get the house decorated and food prepared, for a mammoth BBQ and buffet.

This year I was asked to do the photographs which was a real pleasure. So i started the day cooking a huge cooked breakfast, got my camera ready and headed for the golf club for a couple of hours to do team photographs and action shots. Home to prepare food and then 5 o'clock the fun begins and the party starts! Bouncy Castle, face painting, BBQ, music, food, food and drink, some skipping I belief as well. Then when everyone has had just a wee too much to drink, Rock Band makes an appearance!

The weekend was a roaring success. I love entertaining, even more when it is for friends and family.
I will leave you with a taster of the weekends fun and frolics

Oh to feel normal

blogged by me domestic goddess On 7/25/2008 09:23:00 AM 4 lovely comments
Just as I thought i was feeling on top of the world, my computer got a virus, my mouse decided it was playing anymore and last night after going out for dinner i ended up doubled up in agony, feeling like crap again :(.

We met up with friends of Izzy and Lilly's for dinner at Pizza Express, I only had a salad. At the end of the night, a group photo, LOL.

Tonight, family start arriving for the annual Bowkis summer party!!, I have so much to do and feel so under the weather.

I did manage to get my class layout done for Your Touch of Craft , as I was off to the hospital on Wednesday in Bury it made sense to drop it off. I now need to get my Scrap Genie and Easy Craft Projects projects completed!!

My vegetables are coming along nicely, accept our cucumbers, anyone know whats wrong, the leaves are all blotchy!

I am off to sort out my house and garden for the weekends celebrations. Hopefully will feel better by tomorrow.

Enjoy the sunshine and have a lovely weekend

Hugs and thanks for stopping by

Under the weather

blogged by me domestic goddess On 7/21/2008 06:39:00 PM 7 lovely comments

Been on Doctors orders as well as Sue and Peter, oh and Annie's orders, LOL, to put my feet up, so thats exactly what I have done these past few days. Whilst taking some much needed rest time,we all went and saw "WALL E" at the cinema. Oh boy, this is such a cute movie, although i do have to confess that tiredness hit me and i did snooze for about 10 minutes, so no idea how "EVE" appeared, but haven't admitted it to anyone yet! It is a must see movie for everyone, ET meets Short Circuit. Cannot wait for WALL E to come out on DVD for Christmas :):).

Sue kindly cancelled the crop on Sunday for me as I was not well enough to teach. I hate cancelling at such short notice, I love my monthly crop and seeing all the ladies, we have such a ball! Roll on August, eh ladies.

Today was the last day of school, and as always emotions run high for everyone, especially for those in year 6, thinking of you Sue and Em tomorrow, big hugs xx.

The "Domestic Goddess" in me, decided to some baking this morning. Unfortunately my head was not in the mood and my raisin and oat cookies with cinnamon, ended up with cumin instead! I personally think they still tasted OK, a little exotic maybe!

Tomorrow, first day of the summer holidays and I am racing a round. Off to drop the girls of at their Nana's and then off to Bury to collect my tote bag and a hospital appointment.

Off to try and catch up with some well overdue work :(

Sports Day

blogged by me domestic goddess On 7/17/2008 04:05:00 PM 4 lovely comments

Yesterday was Lilly's first Sports Day and Izzy's last infants Sports Day. Unfortunately Peter couldn't make it, so I took lots of photos for Peter, so he could feel the atmosphere.

I do enjoy Sports Day at this age, it is all fun and at the end all the children are given an ice lolly. The children all enjoy themselves, and everyone is a winner! Next year Izzy has competitve sports day, not as much fun, I hazard a guess!

Yesterday I taught at Your Touch of Craft and left my tote bag there, ggrrr, what am I like! Looks like a trip back to Bury is in order tomorrow and another race home as I have open afternoon at the school!. I don't know about you all, but i am exhausted at the moment. I feel like my feet haven't touched the ground for weeks.

my dear friend Lora and her son Max

Today has been much the same, about to rush out the door to take the girls to their swimming lessons. The house looks a tip as I haven't been home all week. I haven't scrapped all week, and am desperate to do something.

I have been on a mini spending spree. Picked up some real bargains in the clothes department. A couple of gorgeous dresses, flowery, chiffon and linen, think Cath Kidston kinda thing. Bought some clothes for the girls in the sales also. Poor Izzy is growing out of everything before they even make it into her wardrobe at the moment.

I have a crop and Sue staying this weekend. Looking forward to both, and some scrapping!

Nurturing

blogged by me domestic goddess On 7/15/2008 01:53:00 PM 5 lovely comments
I have been nurturing my veggie patch today. The runner beans are coming along nicely, and the tomato plants are looking grand. We have lettuces shooting as well as carrots and spring onions. As this is our first proper year, i now realise i will not be able to put an organic homegrown salad for 4 on the table all at the same time! But hey, we learn and I will have a larger and better organized crop for next year.

Another busy week ahead of us for the girls and myself.
Tonight the girls have their last Rainbows and Brownie meetings. They also bring back their school reports tonight.

Tomorrow I am teaching at A Touch of Craft in Bury St Edmunds, and then a mad dash home for the girls sports day. Sadly Peter will not be able to make it. I am so looking forward to seeing little Lilly take part this year. Its been hard keeping her away these past 2 years from joining in.

Thursday I have a business meeting, sounds posh but it isnt, lol, and friday we do class visits and I am meeting friends for lunch.

Feeling quite unmotivated today, my studio needs a tidy up, I am in a "moping about the house mood",today, which does nobody, most of all me, any good! I am going to curl up on the sofa with my copy of Scrapbook Memories. I had a layout featured in this months issue :)

Thanks for stopping by,

Summer Fetes, Eco Park and Cropping!

blogged by me domestic goddess On 7/14/2008 02:54:00 PM 7 lovely comments
I haven't stopped these past few days, which is why the lack of blogging!. Friday Lilly had a school trip at Eco Park in Milton Keynes, and I was a parent helper. I absolutely loved it there and so did the children. The weather held until we headed for the coach, and i found a use for an empty carrier bag (wearing it as a hat),which left a roar of laughter from 25 little ones!. I then had a meeting with a friend, whose photos I took of her beauty salon. I am really pleased with them and so is she. Meeting up again Thursday so we can start designing the website.

Friday night the heavens opened and 9 drowned scrappers piled into the village hall for our first evening crop. We had such a good evening, we are doing it all again in August complete with a take out, hehehe.

Saturday was our village fete and I was helping with the setting up. De-weeded the outside of the village hall to tidy it up and then we put up the gazebos in the field. Coconut Shire and Tin Alley all ready to go for 2.30pm, and Izzy even set up her first brick a brac stall. The weather remained dry and I reckon most of the village turned out for the fun. Izzy took a small fortune and now wants to move up to a car boot sale. I would like to say she is an entrepreneur in the making, BUT, Izzy spends her money as fast as she makes it, returning home with a pair of size 4 black boots, a pair of slippers 3 handbags, several books and cuddly toys and a remote control dog for the arm of the sofa!!

Sunday was a slightly more chilled day, and we headed out to the local car boot sale to show Izzy what they are all about. We then headed off to a local pub for lunch, and after we stopped off at the river for ice cream and a stroll.

On the creative front, Pencil Lines went live last night and I used my 365 photos, "see no evil....." for layout 26 of my 365 challenge and this weeks Pencil Lines sketch.
Supplies are Collage Press and My Minds Eye papers. I punched flowers for added dimension.

My monthly project for Easy Craft Projects has gone live as well. I did a simple card using Basic Grey papers.
Hope you all had a lovely weekend, I will leave you with snippets lyrics from a Pink song, especially for you Dawn :)

Dear Mr. President,Come take a walk with me.
Let's pretend we're just two people and
You're not better than me.
I'd like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly.
How do you sleep at night?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Dear Mr. President,
You'd never take a walk with me.
Would you?

Mini Beasts

blogged by me domestic goddess On 7/10/2008 11:08:00 PM 8 lovely comments
Lilly had her class assembly today. Approximately 25, 5 year old all got up on stage dressed as a mini beast and recited words by heart as well as songs, and they were all amazing! Lilly was a dragonfly, and if i am allowed to say so myself , the best dancing dragonfly I have ever seen! Bless her cottons she put her heart and soul into her performance.

I took some photos at the performance, but none i can share due to school privacy and such. But I did (of course, I am a scrapping mum!)take a few photos before we left for school, complete with her eyes daddy made her. (btw she does have a double set of wings you just cant see them in this photo)
Completed a layout today, featuring Lilly and her concentration for drawing. My journaling is actually on the back, which i quite often do. Lilly concentrates so hard, and her detail astounds me!

Today's 365 prompt was "Country". I had the perfect shot all planned in my head, to go into the corn fields backing onto our house with me, camera and tripod, but the path is overgrown with stinging nettles so i ended up with this shot, of me wearing Izzy's cowboy hat complete with feathers! Oh well!

Tomorrow up and early as I am off on a school trip with Lilly to Eco Park. Then after school I am meeting up with Laura to discuss the photos i took of her salon and then a and dash home to set up for tomorrow nights crop! Saturday sees me helping set up our village fete, so fingers crossed it stays dry.

Thanks for stopping by

hugs

Fancy Dress....

blogged by me domestic goddess On 7/09/2008 06:42:00 PM 6 lovely comments
I think Halloween has come early this week to our house!

Yesterday the girls had International day at school and their "house" were the USA. Lilly went as a cheerleader and Izzy went as a Dallas Cowboy cheerleader! (someone couldn't make their mind up).

By the end of yesterday, Lilly become a cheerleader pirate! Lilly has me in stitches all the time, she was trying to do mean and moody but ended up smirking!

Today Peter has had the day of for the girls sports day which was cancelled, boohoo, so instead we made Lilly's dragon fly costume for tomorrow's Mini Beasts assembly. Here is Peter trying out the new 20,000 dragon fly eyes! So so funny, I on the other hand just look plain ridiculous!

By the evening I had turned into a Punk Rocker with attitude, all in the name of my 365 challenge. No i do not smoke! Don't like the music but Boy have I had fun messing around. I think I could be a closet punk rocker! Any secrets lying in your closet!?

My MS training is going well, went out for a run yesterday. I am a bit concerened how the next few weeks will go as the weather will definatly be against me and the children will be on summer break. Maybe they can follow me on their bikes? Any suggestions would be greatly received.

Off to clean my face of makeup, and wash the sticky stuff outta my hair! and finally finish decorated wings for Lillys show tomorrow before flopping in front of the TV for Tribal Wifes.

Thanks for stopping by, tomorrow I will share some scrapping .

Its raining, its pouring....

blogged by me domestic goddess On 7/07/2008 10:51:00 AM 8 lovely comments
typical British summer?! oh I so do hope not. It hasn't stopped raining here for what feels like days. I guess i shouldn't complain as I have plodded on with work that has needed to be done.

I also have a confession, I have signed up to Martha Stewarts newsletters, and have been inundated with the most mouthwatering recipes!!! Lemon squares and oatmeal and raisin cookies are the first on my baking list!
Now if by chance you are wondering why the absence?, well i spent last week teaching 45, 14 year old with learning difficulties at a nearby school about scrapbooking! And it was a real eye opener, and to see the joy at the end of the sessions on their faces , really did make it all so worth while. You see the first lessons didn't go too well, as no one at photos so they were left with an hour of mind mapping to do! But as soon as the next day approached and the stash was on the tables, aaahh well, the sounds of oooo, aaahhhh were heard around the room and silence as they all sat and scrapped to their hearts content!

Pencil Lines went live last night. I used a variety of different papers, and I cannot remember for the life of me the manufacturers! The photo is one of my 365's as I am a bit behind with my layouts, so i incorporated this weeks sketch for my layout 24.

Next Wednesday I am teaching at a Touch of Craft in Bury St Edmunds this mini book using Crate Paper. This will be my first monthly day class for Amanda, I am really looking forward to it!

Finally another one of my Bad Girls layouts using the July Kit. Fancy learning how to make this fabric flower? Then get yourself over to bad Girls where I will be doing a class this month.

I am off to catch up on uploading my 365 photos. Hope you all had a lovely weekend
