Cookie Monster...

blogged by me domestic goddess On 12/08/2008 09:34:00 PM
Today's step by step, is a cookie bag. I first saw this bag over at Bad Girls at the Christmas Workshop by Malin. I have adapted the bag sizes and such, a little to suit me better.

Grab your supplies!

I used Basic Grey papers, 1 sheet makes 2 bags, (I suggest a double sided card stock weight paper)
Co ordinating scraps to decorate
Ribbon
Embellishments
Cookies ( see recipe below)
Cookie bags
bone folder
hole punch
ink (optional)
Scalloped punch 3"
Scalloped punch 2"

Time to make your bags

- Trim your 12" x 12" sheet into 6" x 12"
- Now score 1 3/4" in from each side
- Next score 5" up from the bottom and from the top
- Score 2" down and 1 3/4" in, on all 4 sides
- Cut along the line to the 5" score line, and cut the 2" x 1 3/4" out.

this is what your bag should look like now

- Ink if you want all edges at this stage

- Using double sided tape, adhere 2 of the flaps and stick to form a box

- Now lift up the 2 sides, you now have your basic cookie bag. I now made a flap to pop over the top of my bad, using a scalloped punch. I stuck the scalloped circle onto one side of the bag, and punch a hole and thread ribbon through to keep the bag closed.
- Decorate your bag as you wish :)

Now for the cookies; perfect for Christmas. Unfortunately I have no photo of my cookies, as somebody ate all the leftovers before i had a chance to photograph the next morning!!!

INGREDIENTS
100gm butter
40gm sugar
1/4 tsp vanilla essence
100ml Amaretto
1 egg yolk
140 gm flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
125gm ground almonds
150gm white chocolate buttons, chopped into slivers
1 cup dried cranberries
50gm icing sugar
METHOD
1. Cream butter and sugar, add vanilla, Amaretto and egg then mix until combined.
2.Add flour, baking powder and almonds, then mix lightly until combined.
3. Stir the white chocolate and cranberries into the mix by hand until evenly distributed.
4. Roll tablespoonfuls into balls and bake on greased trays ( they will spread so leave enough room) at 150ÂșC for about 15 mins or until cooked and lightly browned.
5.Cool on wire racks until they are cool enough to handle and roll in the sifted icing sugar.
6.Leave to cool completely on rack. ENJOY!!!

I made these cute bags filled with cookies for my crop girls on Sunday. I will be making more for teachers gifts.
Did you notice my new festive banner? Well keep an eye out as the "outtake" banner will be making an appearance this week!! Well worth the wait!

This weekend saw Bad Girls December kit reveal. Lots of luscious vintage papers from Graphic 45, Mellisa Francis trinkets and gorgeous Prima blooms. Here are my DT layouts for December. Do check out the DT gallery, it will seriously blow you away!

Also Pencil Lines sketch 114 went live last night, with Sandie Vincent's our guest designer

I used MME papers, crochet embellies from old clothes of Lilly's!

I cannot believe there is only a few more weeks left of Christmas. I still have so much yet to pack into the last few weeks. Thankfully I am meeting my PA and personal shopper, Sue on Monday, and I know she will have me all sorted!!
I will be back tomorrow with a quick and easy Christmas photo card to share with you

Thanks as always for stopping by
Hugs

Anna xx
