Playing Sceintist

That was me and 22 children today at school. Wednesdays are busy for me these days, as I help out at the girls school, and love it! I usually do reading groups with Lilly's class and classroom duties for Izzy's teacher. Today reading group was cancelled whilst Lilly's class learnt about electricity and making a light bulb work. They were each given a tray of components to make a circuit to light a bulb, using a battery for electric. Evey child in the glass ignored the crocodile clips at first and put the light bulb on top of the battery, it really did amuse me, bless them. One boy did manage to light the bulb , and this caused lots of squeals of delight from the class. Oh to be 5 years old again, there inquisitive minds, full of so much promise!

After break its then a whistle stop to Izzys class and then I am on lunch time supervision, home to grab some lunch, check emails. 3 o'clock its back to school to pick the girls up for swimming lessons!
Eventually back home for 5pm and then I promised pancakes. I cancelled Shrove Tuesday because Peter was supposed to be home late due to a meeting, he actually ended up home before us last night! So I promised pancakes tonight. Unfortunately Peter had his meeting tonight and missed out in 12 scrumptious pancakes with various toppings!

- Number One is always and will always be Lemon and Sugar
- Next comes proper American Maple Syrup, not this yucky Golden Syrup rubbish ( sorry but i cant stand the stuff!)
- Finally for Izzy only I might add, Nutella filled pancakes!

All stuffed now! The girls were tucked up in bed sharp as it is the final week for Master Chef and nobody interrupts me whilst its on! I am shaking my pom poms for Matt, 100% Tomorrow night is the final, I am on tender hooks, LOL.

Sharing a layout I did at my crop on Sunday. I used my Jeni Bowlin Febuary kit and Sassafrass alphabet stickers, Hambly rubons and CBX felt embellishments.
Tomorrow I am meeting Dawn for coffee and then home buried in my glitz Bad Girl kit!!! And its oh so very BAD!!
Check back tomrorow for some sneaks!

Thanks for stopping by.

Template Tuesday

The kids are back to school, and some kind of normality reigns here at home. Template Tuesday is back and I am loving this new kit I just downloaded from OScraps by Kitty Designs! I can see me using this kit, over and over again! The photo is off the girls, Em and Holly last week when we visited Sue. They do look so grown up!

You can download template 07 from here
I love to see what you do with the templates, so please post me a link

Quick layout

blogged by me domestic goddess On 2/23/2009 10:36:00 PM 3 lovely comments
Sunday was my local crop. In fact you can't get much more local than the village hall which is only a minute from my door! unless we scrapped in the dining room. Which I might like to add would not hold 14 of us round the dining table! Just in case you thought for one minute i lived in some glorious stately home!!!
I always teach a class at my crop, and this month I used some Chatterbox, and a Rhonna Farrer overlay. A really easy and simple class with lots of impact. I only wish I had taken photos of the layouts the Ladies made, they were all so stunning. Love that they turn, move and alter to suit them.

Here is my layout. A photo of Lilly and Peter on valentines day, awwww

Lots of cut out flowers, curled, distressed and added to the top of the transparency.

Had fun playing with glimmer mist on the Maya Road hearts
And I so love this cuttlebug butterfly!

Thanks for stopping by. Back tomorrow with template Tuesday!

sniffle, snuffle, sneeze

blogged by me domestic goddess On 2/22/2009 08:17:00 PM 8 lovely comments
I have the sniffles, and feeling awfully sorry for myself. Not felt like blogging, and missed five fav Friday, which I love!
Last night i did manage to make it to Annie's, better half, Spike's birthday party in Bury St Edmunds. I would love to share some photo's but Annie swiped my memory card away, LOL. It was a surprise party , held at the Angel Hotel in the heart of Bury. The meal was gorgeous, the company was fantastic and the hotel was pretty awesome to!. peter and I decided to stay over instead of making the 1 hour drive back home.

Today I cropped and taught a class, using an overlay. Unfortunately I have completely forgotten to photograph it, so will share this week. Actually managed 2 layouts today, just for me!
Pencil Lines has gone live tonight with sketch 123 and Denine Zielinski.

I used some of last months Jeni Bowlin kit, and photos that Izzy took on Valentines Day. I also played with some grunge board, glimmer mist and ink. The kit came with some gorgeous grey crepe ribbon. I curled the ribbon and flatten to make a flower and attached a brad to fasten.
The pretty butterflies are the cuttlebug embossing folder. I used the wrong side(white) of the paper and rubbed ink across the raised edges.

I love the pink feathers in last months kit! So soft and femine....

Hope you all had a lovely relaxing weekend. Our boiler has packed in, I am freezing, and am off to snuggle on the sofa with my hot water bottle, a box of tissues and my fur throw!

Thanks for stopping by

So much is happening

these days, all too fast for me at the moment and I am not catching up with the pace of life!
No template Tuesday this week, due to half term, I am kinda guessing you may have realised this by now, LOL, as its Thursday already!

Tuesday we visited Sue, Em and Holly for our half term jaunt to WGC. We always have such a blast and Tuesday was no exception. Sue had knocked up the most moorish chocolate chip muffins, Em made me a scrummy pasta salad for us , and the girls played Mario Cart in the morning. After lunch the photo shoot down at the lake. The girls are growing up so fast, it does make Sue and I sad. Especially when we remember them only 2 years ago, still wearing warm sensible coats and bobbly hats! Now look at them!!!

Then it was home for a show. Who needs HSM 3 with Vanessa and Zak when you have these 4 girls as your HSM3 cast!

Let me introduce you to :
Gabriella,

Troy,

Sharpay,

and not forgetting Ryan!

If only we had the video camera on! These girls sure know how to put on a show. I see careers in musical theatre for them all, LOL.
And no visit to Sue's is complete without a photo of us!(thanks Em)

Wednesday our half term visit to the Hafermanns. The girls are always so excited to see Dean and Addie. Addie is growing up so fast too!! She is a right little lady, LOL.
Grabbed a few piccies of these 2 "awesome gorgeous" girls! ( Addie likes to call herself "awesome gorgeous", how cute is that!)

Managed to grab a photo of Izzy and Addie also, even though Addie doesn't like anyone getting in on the act!

I have been suffering from stomach pains again, so am just a tad grumpy this week, sorry Sue and Annie. Poor Peter has to now deal with me, as he is off for the rest of the week.

This afternoon we are heading off to the cinema to see "Bolt". Nothing much else planned, which is nice.
Back tomrorow with my Five Fav Friday and some layouts!
Hope you are all well, and thanks as always for stopping by.

It's all about the good times....

blogged by me domestic goddess On 2/16/2009 11:32:00 AM 7 lovely comments
This weekend has been all about the good times spent with good friends, with good food, and a good old sing song!

Valentines Day was spent preparing for our "dinner party" with some very good Friends of ours and their 2 children. I was on starter and pud duty, and Mike was doing the main course. Unfortunately too much good champagne meant dessert never got made, oops , but i did put together a pretty scrummy starter of griddle pears, parma ham on a watercress salad with a w/mustard and lemon dressing. Mike made the most gorgeous fish and chips, complete with homemade mushy peas and tartar sauce, from Gordon Ramseys, "quick and easy" book. (which he has left behind for me to have a good look at!)

Before they arrived, I asked Izzy to take a few photos of Peter and I, so that I could finish my Pencil Lines layout, (again to much champagne was flowing, hence no layout from this week, I am only human!). Anyways, the photos are gorgeous, I am so pleased with them, they will get scrapped this week. I also took a couple of Peter and Lilly.

The night was spent having a good giggle, and playing Lips and Rock Band, more Champagne and then Mel and I headed to bed about 1.30am.
Sunday I was meeting up with Tracie at the NEC for Stitches, and missed out on a full English breakfast. Instead my breakfast consisted of an Alpen bar driving on the M6
It was good to meet up with Tracie, we put the worlds to rights over coffee and a subway, and had a good look around Stitches. Unfortunately we were both really disappointed. Nothing new and exciting and so few manufacturers on display!

We both did fall in love with "The Button Company", and all their gorgeous fabric wall hangings and bags and bags of colourful buttons! Their name card is a HUGE button with their address on, how cool is that! And I cannot believe I didn't get my camera out!
Met a few familiar faces, waving Hi to Dawn, Karen, Michelle, Natalie, Amanda, Mel and all from ATDML, Beverley, and the amazing Sir Tim!

Now please tell me what is it about this guy, that makes a girl weak at the knees! Is it that twinkle in his eyes, his infectious smile, or is it the stained fingers that have lovingly been caressing distressed inks! I think all three to be honest, but definitely the latter. This man is a genius! Every time I see him at work I am completely mesmerised and inspired to go home, and get down and dirty with some black soot and a spritzer! And boy, what he can do with grunge board will make a girl faint! I am so boring with grungeboard and tbh, have not really known what to do, except ink and stamp, but Tim makes inking and stamping sexy, when he starts caressing the edges with those inky thumbs of his, I am hooked, all over again!

Back to serious stuff though, I have been emailing Tim and well, lets just say he hadn't seen eye to eye with me over a little project, but I may have converted him now, *wink wink*.
So that my dear readers is my weekend in a nutshell!!
The girls are on half term week, and I am sure we will have strangled each other by the end of the week, LOL. Hoping that a trip to see Sue, Holly and Em tomorrow, and the Hafermanns on Wednesday will help, and Peter is off at the end of the week, so he can take control of them!

Hope you all had a great Valentines weekend
Hugs and thanks for stopping by

I feel like baking tonight...

blogged by me domestic goddess On 2/09/2009 10:38:00 PM 3 lovely comments
Its true, I have been in the mood to bake. Armed with my new baking book that Annie gave me for my birthday, I have been knocking up muffins, like nobodies business. So this weeks blog post will be dedicated to my baking efforts!

A few of you have asked for the Chocolate Orange Muffin recipe , so here it is.

Ingredients:

21/2 cups of plain flour
5 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup of good cocoa ( i am thinking this may be nicer with melted plain chocolate, yet to try though)
1/4 cup of sugar
1 tbsp orange zest
2 eggs
1/2 cup of OJ
3 tbsp butter softened
1 1/4 cups milk

Method:

  • Preheat oven 380f/190c
  • Grease 12 muffin tray
  • Sift flower, baking powder and coca in a bowl. Mix in sugar. make a well in the center of the dry ingredients
  • Lightly beat zest, eggs and juice together. Melt butter. Poor egg mix, butter and milk into dry ingredients and mix quickly to just combine
  • Fill muffin cups with mix, do not over fill!. Bake for 12 - 15mins
  • I did sprinkle some icing sugar, just because it reminds me of snow, which we have had plenty off lately, LOL
  • Enjoy whilst still warm with a large mug of fresh coffee!

Today I baked some chocolate and peanut butter muffins, I will post recipe tomorrow with Template Tuesday!
Do you have a favourite muffin or cupcake recipe to share? Please post, as I love trying out new recipes!
